Well done, guys.
.5/5 P is for Pressure: A story about a prostitute who wants to buy her daughter a bike. M is for Miscarriage-2/10 Ti West, you're better than this. Each short begins and ends with the colour red, the rest is a wild, weird and grotesque trip into some of the demented minds behind horror.
U is for “Ultimately, in spite of the handful of impressive shorts, this reviewer cannot wholeheartedly recommend anyone to pick up this disc.” Sad but true, folks. It AMAZES me (not in a good way) that you give 26 people an opportunity to do something and this is the crap that comes forth. Some of this is so amazing, and some of it even I was shocked at.
Here you'll find all collections you've created before.
L is for “Loved the idea behind Kill List director Ben Wheatley’s ‘U is for Unearthed’, even if the execution was lacking.” Wheatley, who’s currently garnering praise with his new horror-comedy Sightseers, does a fine job with shooting this tale, even if it fails to satisfy viewers with its jarring conclusion. Nice concept, …. It's a bit heavy handed and is just a crescendo of random stuff.
If most of these shorts were introduced in an introductory film school class, they would be torn to shreds.
: A really enjoyable short where every idea for W is thrown on the screen. The shorts are so incredibly varied and there's almost no time to reflect on them individually because as one death ends another one instantly begins.
Rather than concentrating on telling interesting horror tales, the filmmakers here have decided to make crude and incomprehensible films. 2.5/5 J is for Jidai-Geki (Samurai Movie): A samurai is having trouble beheading a man.
Just check out the list of extras at the bottom of this review. Its not bad. For the most part this movie was insulting and left me embarrassed that I sat trough half of it. T is for “Terrify – which none of the shorts here manage to do.” If you’re looking for horror, you’ve come to the wrong place. G is for “Great, which describes only a select few of the short films.” The fantastic live-action cartoon “H is for Hydro Electric Diffusion”, the quite funny “N is for Nuptials”, the well-made and disturbing “P is for Pressure”, the energetic and fun (with a dark twist) “S is for Speed”, and the sad and ultimately tragic “X is for XXL”. There is no artistic merit to be found. I is for Ingrown-7/10 Fairly effective and kind of depressing.
I let each one effect me in their own unique way.
26 directors of varying notoriety, 26 letters, 26 gruesome, horrifying, funny and vile ways to die. var _g1; I was super excited to see some up and coming filmmakers showcase their talent. var _g1;
It presents 26 disparate (read: in need of an editor) slices of dicing from 26 directors you've almost certainly never heard of (and indeed, the one you have – Ben Wheatley – feels tainted by association). Ensemble Dark Horse : Most people who've reviewed it, even those who dislike the movie, like X is for XXL because of … What comes next is 123 minutes of WTF which left me feeling like I had done a bucket load of drugs. If you come here often, you should tell us (and the whole world, really) about yourself in the bio section of your profile. Je$$ica, Actress: The ABCs of Death. All the same, it’s more of a comedy than anything. Zetsumetsu seems to be going for this with a lot of over-the-top sexual imagery, political imagery, and violence, not to mention how confusing it all is.
X is for XXL-10/10 Very strong message.
Z is for Zetsumetsu (Extinction) (directed and written by Yoshihiro Nishimura): An abstract series of events dealing with revisionist views of Japanese relations with the West. That's kind of what happens with ABC's of Death.
An Altogether Different Creature from the Black Lagoon, See Some New Footage in This True Blood Season 6 Clip Trailer, The Boulet Brothers’ Creatures of the Night. You have some good films here mixed with a lot of bad ones mixed with a whole lot of forgettable ones. P is for “Packed full of bonus features.” Magnet’s special features on the film’s Blu-ray are outstanding.
This is embarrassing. A is for Apocalypse: Unfortunately I was more interested in seeing the apocalypse than what was portrayed on screen. Most of the stories are lazy and inept. Twenty-six short films is a lot to sit through, even when they're universally excellent. T is for Toilet-6/10 Great use of claymation. The film contains 26 different shorts, each by different directors spanning fifteen countries, including Nacho Vigalondo, Kaare Andrews, Adam Wingard, Simon Barrett, Banjong Pisanthanakun, Ben Wheatley, Lee Hardcastle, Noboru Iguchi, Ti West, and Angela Bettis. G is for Gravity-0/10 Insultingly bad.
I'll be passing on part 2, unless I'm feeling a bout of insomnia. A boy is deathly afraid of his toilet. When you watch "The ABCs of Death", you're really watching 26 f**ked up short stories that either leave you thinking it was good, or a total piece of crap. _g1.setAttribute('srcset', _g1.getAttribute('data-srcset')); Just remember: opinions vary and some might disagree. While the imagery can be intense and the drama dark, none of the films here ever manage to be truly scary. Get the latest horror news straight into your inbox!
What is it with the Japanese and toilet, farting, crapping? B is for Bigfoot-5/10 A bit more comedic, but not great. L is for Libido-9/10 Incredibly disturbing, well produced, cool ending.
