Beyond RE-ANIMATOR is an excellent movie, the plot is good, the actors are very good, the atmosphere of the film is claustrophobic, and the masterful performance of Jeffrey Combs, is magnificent.

This is the uncut version in case you are wondering. It definitley beats the heck out of the slew of horror remakes and sequels coming out of Hollywood that we've been subjected to in this decade. Only Dr. Katharine McMichaels (Barbara Crampton) believes the insane tales of Dr. Tillinghast and it's up to her to shut down the experiment that threatens to unleash the other-dimensional creatures on this universe forever. Following on from their triumphant debut 'Re- Animator', creative team Stuart Gordon (director), Brian Yuzna (producer) and screenwriter Dennis Paoli unleashed this rather 'gooey' splatter filled monster epic that promised to outdo the craziness of their previous picture... which it almost does. I recommend this film. You could say the same about the creature effects of Nightmare on Elm Street vet Mark Shostrom, which are easily on par with Rick Baker and Rob Bottin's work.
Anyways if your a fan of the movies, give this a watch and you will like it. Its black humor, gore, and Jeffery Combs make it a stand out of 80s horror films.
Now on Blu-ray: Lovecraft Lives In Dagon & Beyond Re-animator From Vestron Video, 24 July 2018 The disc skips past the entire movie looking for un scratched surfaces and we had to put the disc in a case the least it could do was play. A perverted sense of sexuality drives these characters to extremes. Also Jeffery Combs does an amazing job as always (the rest of cast not so much). This movie is a follow up to the wrongly maligned sequel to Reanimator (I actually liked that one a lot).

Beyond Re-Animator is a pretty solid addition to the franchise. The shout factory blu is absolutely gorgeous; the picture is extremely crisp, and the colors leap off the screen. I was wrong, the cinematography is amazing & the colours are really vivid. Even to have other senses than the 5 we have. See other DVD options under “Other Formats & Versions”. In 1990, when the scene is set, that type had not yet hit the market. The disc won't play. The prints of this double feature are in excellent quality in widescreen without any subtitles.

Any movie that includes a character named after the Great Lovecraft himself is bound to attract the attention of quite a few enthusiasts, even though in this case said character is dull and mostly thinly constructed, yet this is a sequel to the epic of Doctor West and his uncanny obsession, as such it was bound to create a certain momentum. I love movies with Jeffrey Combs and directed by Stuart Gordon and produced by Brian Yuzna, this trio are a rock.
