I like to get into the minds of the characters and find out how or why they come to the decisions they do, and therefore come to understand a situation I might not otherwise wrap my brain around. I would still give this one a shot because the writing is not bad and some of the dialogue is entertaining, and I know this author has put out some good stuff before.
This book is not one of them. As Elliott navigates the streets he knows so well, he and Amy will discover how dark they are—and how many secrets they conceal. And over and over. [I am confused about ending. Definitely a page turner.
This book totally knocked my socks off it isn’t what you would normally expect from Penelope Douglas it is a very sweet story filled with battling to do what you think is the right thing to do against what is right for you. After that the book came alive and was reasonably pacey. Paperback $ 14.30. Until Amy Scowcroft solicits his help to find her missing daughter Lacey.

I don't like to and I won't give much away about the plot, but essentially this entire novel takes place in the space of a couple hours on the night of our protagonists (Ellie) birthday. Ellie is a shallow, spoiled, self-centered character with a zero sympathy factor and few redeemable qualities. PIKEI took her in, because I thought I was helping.She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. I had seen some bad reviews going in, so my expectations were not very high, yet somehow I was STILL disappointed with this one! To the police, it’s a case gone cold. Their research leads them to believe that Amy's daughter could be one of many children kidnapped/murdered by a serial kidnapper/murderer.

A wonderful novel, moving, touching, with characters that will make you cry, sizzle, and empathize with. The ending surprised me. Elliot was a bit of a puzzle - I can't hazard a guess whether it would be possible for someone to live on the streets for 8 years having retained/regained that level of self-awareness, control, and empathy, without alcohol/drug abuse, and not be desperate to set down some roots again. Bring your club to Amazon Book Clubs, start a new book club and invite your friends to join, or find a club that’s right for you for free. It was all very dreamy and emotional thoughts and, frankly, I suspected what I was reading wasn't essential to understanding the overall plot. There’s a legend at Waylon University: you'll never forget the first girl you kiss at the freshman year bonfire. This book did nothing for me. I enjoyed every single moment I got to spend with Jordan and Pike, and if you like a sweet love story that will leave your heart racing and melting, I think you will, too.
