Their FIRST BIG LAUGH HIT and their FUNNIEST! --Sean Axmaker. Naturally he winds up their drill sergeant and comic foil as they wreak havoc on the armed forces. The rich soldier and the poor soldier butt heads over nearly everything, especially the hot girl who is apparently in the army as some sort of concubine or something.
The Andrews Sisters paid the fee themselves, and it went on to become one of their most requested songs.

Buck Privates is a 1941 musical military comedy film that turned Bud Abbott and Lou Costello into bona fide movie stars. Slow down, this isn't that kind of movie. Regal But I think it's terrific – in part because of that love triangle (which is very well acted) and the Andrews Sisters, but also because Abbott and Costello were rarely so energetic.
