We had really, really strict safety protocols and testing regiments, and they went off flawlessly. The Golden State Warriors last missed the playoffs in 2020. By the preseason, Chriss was impressing coaches with his ability to set up guard Stephen Curry for open shots with crisp passes and dribble handoffs. Chriss averaged 1.6 assists per game as a high school senior, but never again approached that figure until last season, when he dished 1.9 assists per game with the Warriors. We hadn't had that in a very, very long time. And that's one of those examples I gave where players were like, wow Klay is even better than I thought in person. It's great for other players to see him and the energy he brings. Really good. My bet is that it will look even better by the time we get to the season, because they were tweaking quite a few things this summer to make it a little bit more smooth from deep. You know, frankly, if you can even be on the court at the same time as Steph and Klay you can shoot the ball pretty damn well. Instead of taking advantage of his passing ability, those teams limited Chriss’ role to setting screens, rolling to the rim and dunking. So it was it was really valuable.
