Inside the vase, he finds an envelope with a key inside. Grandpa showed up at Grandma’s house with a note that said, “I’m sorry” and she let him in. Oskar finally returns home at 4:22 to find his mother horribly worried but greatly relieved. Knowing how difficult it would be, she asked her mother-in-law to take care of him. The last chapter is titled “Beautiful and True” because Oskar discovers the truth, and finds beauty in his life again.
