The name of the province means “peaceful beauty” and comes from the names of two cities, Anqing and Huizhou. As elsewhere in China, English is not widespread but some people speak it quite well. The picturesque Fujian Province might be a small province, but due to its location opposite of Taiwan, bordering the China Sea, it’s been strategically important in its long history, which appears in written records dating to B.C.E.

However many residents in the southern fringe of the Liaodong region (mostly in Dalian and Dandong) speak the Jiaoliao Mandarin, which is actually a Shandong dialect. Jiangsu and Anhui were originally one province called Jiangnan, with its capital at Nanjing. It usually corresponds specifically to the three provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang but is sometimes also meant to encompass the northeastern portion of Inner Mongolia. Henan and Hebei Provinces are considered to be the "most Chinese" of all the provinces in China, as they have been less influenced by Western culture.
In Chinese, the name changed between zhou and jun several times before being finally settled on zhou.
It encompasses almost all of Shanxi Province and parts of Hebei and Henan Provinces.
Most parts of Northern China rarely see many foreign visitors except Beijing, Tianjin and Qingdao.
