However, I understand that these people are following their religion and could be why the female comes off as wishy-washy and the male as a boor. Jonah has fallen in love with Sarah, and started a new family with her and her son, Mark. We ended the first book on a cliff- hanger and expect the same with this read. I really wish I could say differently, but I truly did not enjoy this book and it breaks my heart. Wanda' s ability to develop her characters in a realistic and complex way is outstanding in this novel. Another delicious story, surprisingly entwined English and Amish in a heartbreaking tale of faith, hope, love, committment, loss, and forgiveness. The Gift is the second book in this series at Arthur IL Amish Community, and reunite with our old friends, and especially the bond of friends Leah, Priscilla and Elaine. Readers meet both of these characters in the first few pages of The Gift, the second book of the Prairie State Friends series, and we are immediately given a glimpse of how complicated a relationship between the two of them would be. Leah and Adam can barely abide one another due to their misconceptions and hardheadedness, but God steps in to arrange things so that God's plan happens.

I have never been disappointed in Wanda's book and this one is no exception! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading waiting to see what was going to happen next only to come to the end of the book…WHAT?

Something went wrong. Wanda's books, while they did have hardships, were never this dark to me. I wish I hadn't.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book after reading, The Decision, by the same author was I found to be a disappointment.
