The red herring was obvious early on, but it wasn't until well into the second half of the story that I was certain of the killer. Aylesworth has done a fantastic job with his version of The Gingerbread Man. Very cute takeoff on the original story. I enjoyed this story as a kid and I still do now. I re- discovered my love for 'The Gingerbread Man' during my 2nd placement in Reception. A classic tale and excellent for an 18 month old boy. "after meeting each character in the story. The story starts with a British undertone and with characters who look as if they're from old Britain. It all ends with a rhyme. The story involved some heavy material but it was dealt with well...did not get too deep into it. The book is a fun book to read! I live in the teeny, tiny town of Taylor, NY, (Alliteration Alert!)

Upon its publication, it was banned both in Ireland and the United States of America by reason of obscenity. This is a traditional tale with an extra part in the rhyme - "No! If you love the fantasy genre, this is the season for you! Suitable for children from nursery to year one or two. It would never mention the creepiness of the serial kidnapper/rapist/killer lurking in the background, watching our heroine as she struggles through her returning feelings of trauma--the feelings she's never been able to let go of since she watched her baby sister get snatched from right in front. Except for the brief sex and some subject matter (the darker parts are left to the reader's imagination with little or no description), this reads like a young adult mystery given the language used and pacing of the story.
